Wine Tasting

At Frei Brothers they honor and continue the tradition Andrew Frei established years ago with Frei BroFrei Brothers Reserve Logothers Reserve. Fruit-forward and food friendly, these wines are made from select grapes from select Sonoma appellations. Please join us tonight at our wine and sample the great tradition of Frei Brothers winery.

Frei Brothers Chardonnay has flavors of green apple, orange zest, and apple pie, which are complemented by buttery and toasty notes. Nutty and rich, the wine finishes with a silky, full mouthfeel.

Frei Brothers Merlot is a medium-bodied wine that exhibits intense flavors of blackberry and cherry from the vineyard with hints of complementary barrel spices. This wine was made to be enjoyed young, but a bit of bottle aging will make it even more rewarding.

Frei Brothers Cabernet has intense aromas of cassis, dark berries and toasty oak. The firm, velvety tannins are complemented by flavors of blackberry, raspberry, cedar, and tobacco with hints of vanilla and dark chocolate that linger in a long, elegant finish.

Frei Brothers Zinfandel displays classic fruit flavors of blueberry and raspberry jam. Spicy notes of black pepper add layers, and the finish is opulent and lingering.

David (DJ) Johncox is our featured Friday night musician playing from 5-7pm.

Odell's Beer Tasting

Doug Odell's passion for crafting great beer started in his kitchen in Seattle. After the demand for his home-brew grew, Doug-along with his wife Wynne, searched for a good location to take Doug's passion commercial. They moved to Fort Collins to be closer to Doug's sister, Corkie, who joined forces with them in opening
the brewery in 1989.

Easy Street Wheat is light and refreshing, It's an unfiltered American-style wheat beer. Leaving in the yeast gives the beer a nice, smooth finish and a slightly citrusy flavor. Easy Street Wheat gets its name by brewers “taking it easy” and not filtering the beer.

5 Barrel Pale Ale The distinctive hop character of our 5 Barrel Pale Ale is due to the extraction of essential oils from select hops. We treat 5 Barrel Pale Ale to an infusion of fresh whole hop flowers in the Hop Back and the Fermentor, as well as four hop additions during the kettle boil. We like how this gives the beer a fresh, lively flavor and aroma.

90 Shilling - For a while, we’d been wondering what would happen if we lightened up the traditional Scottish ale? The result is an irresistibly smooth and delicious medium-bodied amber ale. The name 90 Shilling comes from the Scottish method of taxing beer.

We took the traditional IPA, originally shipped from England to India in the 1700’s, and made it bolder and more flavorful – American Style. We’ve added new varieties of highly aromatic American hops to create a distinctive bitterness profile and an incredible hop character.

Enjoy these delicious hand crafted beers with samples from Wild Wings 'n Things, a new restaurant near Park Meadows. They will be here from 5-7 sharing a few of their tasty treats.

Bridget's Recipe Corner

From the "funny how life works" file, once again I was in search of inspiration for something to share this week. I've done a lot of pasta, several soups, a couple desserts and then it hit me. I haven't used my grill lately. When I went downstairs to make coffee yesterday morning, I saw my lonely grill sitting on my deck. Knowing that I had chicken that was ready to use and a tight evening schedule, I decided to make up a Spicy "Teriyaki" marinade so I could let the chicken "hang out" and get some flavor while I was at work. Nothing too fancy here, but tasty nonetheless and did I mention quick & easy? It's all good. Should you decide to make this recipe as part of a weekday or whenever meal, I hope you enjoy it too.

Spicy Grilled Teriyaki Chicken Sandwiches
1 pkg. thin cut boneless/skinless chicken breasts (5-6 breasts)
1/4 c. Tamari (soy sauce)

2 t. Fish Sauce
2 t. sesame oil

1-2 t. rice wine vinegar

1 t. sugar

2 t. honey

1-2 t. chopped garlic

2 t. chopped ginger (I used the ginger in the jar - found next to garlic in jar in produce section)
1 t. red pepper flakes
1 T. sesame seeds (lightly toasted in frying pan)

1 pkg. Hallah rolls (purchased at Whole Foods)

butter

In small frying pan, lightly toast the sesame seeds. Let cool slightly. In small bowl, add all marinade ingredients, mixing well, then add cooled sesame seeds. Place chicken in large zipper bag and pour marinade over the chicken. Seal tightly and refrigerate all day. When ready to cook, prepare grill. Cook until done. I like to butter and lightly grill the bread as well. Let cool slightly, slice into thin strips. Generously coat both sides of toasted roll with the wasabi mayo, layer the chicken strips and avocado slices. Super easy and quite tasty.

Wasabi Mayo
3 T. Bookbinders Wasabi Sauce (found it @ King Soopers - near seafood counter)
1/2 c. lowfat or reg. mayo (not Miracle Whip, sorry)

2 green onions, washed and thinly chopped

1 avocado, sliced thin

In small bowl, combine ingredients and mix well. When ready to assemble the sandwich, generously spread mayo on both sides of roll.

If you're in the mood for a glass of wine with your meal, I might suggest Buried Cane Riesling, from Washington State. Slightly off-dry (meaning hint of sweetness), I thought it paired nicely. For $11.99, it's definitely worth it. You can find this in our domestic Riesling section in the back corner of the store.

Spirit of the Month

Jameson
Irish Whiskey

Established by John Jameson in 1780, Jameson is triple distilled, twice as smooth Irish Whiskey. Long before distilleries began bottling their own whiskey, Jameson insisted that their own labels would bear the John Jameson & Son signature. These labels were a guarantee of quality from the Jameson Distillery. And that is how, today, the Jameson signature has become synonymous with superb and assured quality.
