An incredible example of an old Tawny port. A rarity, as few houses will make a 40 year old tawny. This wine is olive gold in color with rich caramel, butterscotch, hazelnut flavors. The concentration in this port also produces a wine with amazing length, which lingers beautifully in the palate.
Taste: With an intense amber, tawny color, the wine has voluptuous, spicy, tangy marmalade and nutty aromas with raisiny notes and toast from the long aging in cask. The full palate is very rich, with concentrated flavor and has a long, mellow finish.
Food Pairing: Pairs well with figs, almonds and caramel. It can also be served at the end of the meal with walnuts or dried fruit and it can be slightly chilled in the summer.
Wine EnthusiastA superb wine, elegance and weight combined magisterially. It has all the right mature flavors, ripe fruit, intense marmalade and concentration. This is a wine with a great reputation, and the taste doesn't let that reputation down.
Wine SpectatorConcentrated flavors of dried apricot and golden raisin are matched to buttery notes, with pepper hints. Shows butterscotch details on the medium-length finish. Drink now.
